Student-Made Webpage Research Project
by Beth Albrecht
This year I am having all my 6th grade students create a web page about a topic related to this year’s expedition. We use Microsoft Publisher since it is easy to covert to a Web Page.
Here is a brief timeline for the project:
1) Brainstorm topics and sub-topics.
2) Teacher approves topic and sub-topics
3) Students gather resources – book, internet and encyclopedia (can be online)
4) Use Inspiration software to take notes. www.inspiration.com (free 30 day trial download)
a. Love this software as it allows students to use a web while taking notes but then converts it to outline
form with a click. Also allows students to hyperlink their notes and include pictures/graphics
5) Students use notes to write rough draft.
6) Rough draft must be edited by an adult and trusted peer.
7) Typing of Final draft in Publisher to create web page.
8) Students turn in Publisher documents digitally so I can grade and check over.
